Common controls in filters

Common workspace for all the filters

Same controls for each filter (with exceptions)

When you open a filter, a toolbar appears on the screen. The toolbar has similar controls for majority of the filters:

1

icon/cancel

Cancel

closes the tool without applying changes.

2

Variant selector (only for the filters that have variants)

3

icon/filters

Another filter

tap to close the current filter and pick another from the pop-up list.

You will be asked whether you wish to apply the current filter or abandon the changes.

4

Masking menu

Offers a number of masking tools to restrict application of the filter to certain areas only. See Masking in filters for details. “No Mask” applies the filter to the entire layer.

Internal masking works exactly like in Color adjustments.

5

icon/selection_invert

Invert the mask

Inverts the current mask (also the global selection mask, if used).

6

icon/confirm

Confirm

Closes the tool applying the changes.

7

icon/visibility-on

Hide the effect

Temporarily disables the real-time preview so you can compare "before — after".

8

Current strength

The value set with the strength slider.

9

Current filter strength slider

It is the main control for each filter. Drag the slider to change the amount of effect from 0% to +100%.

Note that the strength has different meaning for different filters.

Certain filters have their specific controls.
Usually you are expected to move the focal point or direction on the screen. Refer to detailed descriptions of each filter. Or just experiment.
